Ein wundervoller sonniger Herbsttag. Wär hätte gedacht, dass er so enden muss?
Heute wollte ich ein paar Servicearbeiten erledigen und dann zu Freunden fahren.
Zuerst habe ich die Ersatzzündspule mit dem Kunststoffgehäuse durch eine aus Holz ersetzt. Um sicher zu sein, habe ich noch den Zündfunken geprüft.

Today I wanted to do some service work and then go to friends.
First I replaced the spare ignition coil with the plastic housing with one made of wood. To be sure, I checked the ignition spark.
The spark plug of the 3rd cylinder looks good.
The spark plug of the 2nd cylinder is still bad and there are still the combustion residues in the 2nd cylinder.
The engine runs well with the new ignition coil.
When I was about to start I heard a strange noise under the hood. When I open the hood, I am almost hit by the blow. The fan belt is torn. The leather belt has run only 390km in 3 months, has lengthened so much that the fan hit the radiator hose after retightening and I had to shorten the fan blades a bit. Now it is cracked.
Luckily I have a replacement fan belt made of polyester. It is quickly mounted. But now the fan hits the starter crank at the bottom again. It becomes clear how much the leather belt had lengthened. It was possible to tighten the belt so much that the fan just passes the starter crank. But the engine starts knocking heavily.
When trying to adjust the belt tension so that the fan does not hit the starter crank and the engine does not make any noise, it happens. The fan hits the radiator again and damages it. The cooling fins are damaged and also a water pipe. The radiator has a small hole. Hopefully it can be repaired again. A new radiator is very expensive and this is a brand new radiator.
Jetzt habe ich viele Fragen:
Kann es sein, dass die Lederriemen einfach von schlechter Qualität sind? Er hat sich stark gelängt, obwohl er nicht stark gespannt war und ist dann nach nur 390km gerissen.
Habe ich den richtigen Lüfter montiert? Die Längentoleranz der Riemen, läßt ihn bei kurzen Riemen unten am Starting Crank Ratchet anschlagen und bei langen Riemen oben am Kühlwasserschlauch.
Woher kommt das Klopfen des Motors?
Macht es Sinn die Lüfterflügel 10mm zu kürzen?
Kann man den Kühler wieder reparieren?Now I have many questions:
Is it possible that the leather belt are simply of poor quality? It stretched a lot although it was not very tight and then it broke after only 390km.
Did I install the right fan? The length tolerance of the belt, makes it hit the bottom of the Starting Crank Ratchet for short belt and the top of the coolant hose for long belts.
Where does the engine knocking come from?
Does it make sense to shorten the fan blades 10mm?
Can the radiator be repaired?
Ach ja, ich bin heute 29km gefahren, aber zu den Freunden bin ich nicht mehr gekommen.
Oh yes, I drove 29km today, but I didn't get back to my friends.
