237. Tag - Timer fetten / Grease Timer

Alle 300km, also mal kurz zum Discounter und zurück, vielleicht noch zum Baumarkt und Tankstelle und schon passiert es wieder. Der Timer muss geölt werden. So steht es im Betriebshandbuch. Ich glaube das habe ich echt übersehen oder vergessen. Also nehme ich mir heute nichts anderes vor als den Timer zu fetten. Dort unten im Dunkeln sitzt er, neben dem Lüfterriemen. 
Every 300km, so times briefly to the discount store and back, maybe to the hardware store and gas station and it happens again. The timer needs to be oiled. That's what it says in the operating manual. I think I really overlooked or forgot that. So today I do nothing else but grease the timer. It sits down there in the dark, next to the fan belt. 

Zuerst muss man den Klemmbügel lockern und vom Timer annehmen. Eigentlich eine clever einfache Lösung. Der Klemmbügel drückt den Timer einfach auf den Flansch.
First you have to loosen the clamp and accept it from the timer. Actually a cleverly simple solution. The clamping bracket simply presses the timer onto the flange.

Dann noch schnell den Splint des Timer Hebels herausnehmen und man kann den Timer nach vorn klappen und fetten. Die Kabel können dran bleiben.
Then quickly remove the cotter pin of the timer lever and you can fold the timer forward and grease it. The cables can remain attached.

Aber jetzt wo ich den Timer vor mir habe, weiß ich eigentlich gar nicht was ich da fetten soll. Die Feder des Flappers und die 4 Kontaktzungen vielleicht. Jetzt muss man wissen, dass der Anderson Timer in meinem Wagen nicht der original Timer ist, für den das Handbuch alle 300km das Ölen vorsieht. 

Also ist der Anderson Timer auch für die Reduzierung des Serviceaufwandes eine gute Wahl. Ich glaube alle 800 oder 1200km reicht auch.

But now that I have the timer in front of me, I actually do not know what I should grease there. The spring of the flapper and the 4 contact tongues maybe. Now you have to know that the Anderson timer in my car is not the original timer, for which the manual provides oiling every 300km. 

So the Anderson timer is also a good choice for reducing service. I think every 800 or 1200km is also enough.

44. Tag - Timer & Kabel / Timer & Cable

Heute werde ich noch das Kabel des Timers austauschen.  Das neue Kabel liegt schon bereit.

Today I will replace the cable of the timer.  The new cable is already ready.

Der Kabelbaum besteht nur aus 5 einzelnen Kabel. 4 Kabel für den Timer und eines für die Scheinwerfer.  Der Kabelbaum verbindet die vier Zündspulen mit dem Timer und den Lichtschalter mit den Scheinwerfer. Er ist also nicht besonders lang.

The wiring harness consists of only 5 individual cables. 4 cables for the timer and one for the headlights.  The wire harness connects the four ignition coils with the timer and the light switch with the headlights. So it is not very long.

Die Installationsanweisung ist sehr einfach geschrieben.

The installation instructions are written very simply.

Der montierte Timer ist ein Anderson Timer. Er unterscheidet sich vom original Timer. Der Anderson Timer hat angeschraubte, abstehende Kontakte. Beim original Timer sind die Kontakte in einen Kunstoffring eingelassen. 

The mounted timer is an Anderson timer. It is different from the original timer. The Anderson Timer has screwed on, protruding contacts. With the original timer the contacts are embedded in a plastic ring. 

Beim Anderson Timer sind die Kontakte mit den Nummern der Zündspulen beschriftet.

On the Anderson Timer the contacts are labeled with the numbers of the ignition coils.

Original Timer mit Kontakten, welche in einen Kunststoffring eingelassen sind. Der sich drehende Mittelkontakt gräbt sich mit der Zeit in den Kunststoffring ein und die Funktion wird gestört.

Original timer with contacts, which are embedded in a plastic ring. The rotating center contact digs itself into the plastic ring over time and the function is disturbed.

Das alte Kabel wird entsorgt.
