50. Tag - Lüfterlager / Fan Bearing

Heute fange ich erst mal damit an das Lüfterlager zu prüfen.

Die Stahlachse zeigt deutliche Verschleißspuren. und hat gegenüber der Messingbuchse ein Spiel von 0,4mm. Das ist viel, aber reicht es aus das Rad zum Stillstand zu bringen?

The steel axle shows clear signs of wear and has a clearance of 0.4mm compared to the brass bush. That is a lot, but is it enough to bring the wheel to a standstill?

Eine zweite Ursache  könnte sein, dass das Rad auch blockiert wird, wenn die Achse zu weit in den Lüfterspanner eingeschraubt wird. Lediglich die kleine Schraube auf dem nächsten Bild hält die Achse in Position.

A second cause could be that the wheel is also blocked if the axle is screwed too far into the fan tensioner. Only the small screw on the next picture holds the axle in position.

Die dritte Möglichkeit ist die falsche Spannung des Riemens. Seit gestern bin ich in der Facebookgruppe "Model T Ford Owners". David Hjornaes aus Menomonee Falls gab mir den Rat, die Spannung des Lüfterriemens so einzustellen, dass man ihn 3cm zur Seite drücken kann. Das habe ich getan und es funktioniert.

The third possibility is the wrong tension of the belt. Since yesterday I am in the Facebook group "Model T Ford Owners". David Hjornaes from Menomonee Falls gave me the advice to adjust the tension of the fan belt so that you can push it 3cm to the side. I did that and it works.

Dabei habe ich auch die Ursache des Klapperns gefunden. Ein Flügel des Lüfters ist dem unteren Wasserkasten des Kühlers zu nah und schlägt bei einer bestimmten Drehzahl an. Den Flügel biege ich etwas zurecht und werde die angekratzte Stelle am Kühler später nach lackierten.

I also found the cause of the rattling. One wing of the fan is too close to the lower water box of the cooler and hits at a certain speed. I bend the wing a little bit and will later repaint the scratched part of the radiator.

Das alles hat gar nicht zu lange gedauert. Genug Zeit noch eine kleine Ausfahrt zu machen. Ich bin 23km ohne Probleme gefahren. Na also, es entwickelt sich doch!
