Heute gibt es fast eine Live Berichterstattung vom Versuch das Verdeck zu reparieren. Hier könnt ihr das Ersatzteil sehen. Es kostet ca. 60€ und muss nicht kureingebaut werden, sondern auch noch an den Enden angepasst werde, damit es in die Rohre passt. Heute ist ein verregneter, kalter Tag. Wenn ich schon in der ungeheizten Werkstatt arbeiten muss, sollt ihr die Möglichkeit haben vor dem warmen Kaminfeuer eine anspruchsvolle Unterhaltung zu genießen. Ich werde versuchen jede Stunde ein Update zu posten.
Today there is almost a live coverage of the attempt to repair the top. Here you can see the spare part. It costs about 60€ and not only has to be installed, but also the ends have to be adjusted to fit into the tubes. Today is a rainy and cold day. Also 12:40: Abfahrt zur Garage. Vorher muss ich noch in der anderen Werkstatt Werkzeug mitnehmen. Ich hoffe nur, dass ich das richtige Werkzeug haben werde und nicht wieder zurück muss. Ich habe ca. 6 Stunden Zeit. Ich könnte wetten, dass die Zeit nicht ausreicht.

Zuerst brauche ich passende Musik. Leider habe ich mein Grammophon nicht dabei. Aber Bix Beiderbecke hat es irgendwie ins Bluetooth-Zeitalter geschafft.

14:22: Ich realisiere den notwendigen Arbeitsaufwand. Das Verdeck ist mit 3 Lagen Klammern an den Holzspriegel geklammert! Die Ummantelung des Spriegels, das Verdeck und der darüber liegende.

15:00: Ich versuche den alten Spriegel zu reparieren, um nicht das ganze Verdeck demontieren zu müssen. Das haben vermutlich schon sehr viele Model-T Fahrer vor mir versucht. Ich frage mich mit welchem Erfolg. Ich hatte schon mit Werner darüber gesprochen. Er meinte, dass solche Reparaturen nicht lange halten. Vermutlich hat er Recht. Aber mir fehlt gerade die Motivation, den ganzen Spriegel heraus zunehmen, ohne es versucht zu haben das Problem mit einer kleinen Reparatur zu beheben. Schade, dass die Amerikanischen Mitglieder der Facebookgruppe " Model T Ford Owners" noch nicht online sind.

Ich habe das Verdeck probeweise geschlossen und die Länge des Spiegels nachgemessen. Ich Muss ihn noch 20mm kürzen.
I closed the top on a trial basis and measured the length of the mirror. I still have to shorten it 20mm.
Den Lederriemen repariere ich mit einer 5mm Schraube. Nur solange bis ich einen neuen Riemen besorgt habe.
I repair the leather strap with a 5mm screw. Only until I get a new strap.

Ich werde die Reparaturstelle morgen noch mit einem Blech verstärken und das Verdeck und den Keder wieder annageln.
