232. Tag - Indian Motorcycles

Da musst ich einfach anhalten für ein Photo oder zwei.
Indian Motorräder sind eine weitere Legende Amerikanischen Fahrzeugbaus und es gibt sie wieder.
1901 gegründet, 1953 in Konkurs gegangen. Indians Spezialität waren Ein- und Zweizylinder Motorräder. 
1916 hat Indian die Seitenventil-Steuerung. zwischen 1916 und 1919 gab es sogar ein Achtventilmotor. Damit war Indian nicht nur sehr innovativ, sondern auch von 1913 bis 1917 der weltweit größte Motorradhersteller.
Die Leistung pro Hubraum war übrigens vergleichbar mit dem Model T. Das 1916er Einzylinder Modell hatt 4 PS bei 499ccm Hubraum.
Nach 6 erfolglosen Wiederbelebungsversuchen hat es 2011 anscheinend geklappt. Seitdem gibt es wieder Indian Motorräder und sie sind schön. Fast so schön wie der Ford vorn im Bild.

Indian Motorcycles are another legend of American vehicle manufacturing and they are back.
Founded in 1901, went bankrupt in 1953. Indian's specialty was single and twin cylinder motorcycles. 
In 1916 Indian has the side valve control. between 1916 and 1919 there was even an eight-valve engine. This made Indian not only very innovative, but also the world's largest motorcycle manufacturer from 1913 to 1917.
By the way, the power per displacement was comparable to the Model T. The 1916 single-cylinder model had 4 hp with 499cc displacement.
After 6 unsuccessful revival attempts, it apparently worked in 2011. Since then, Indian motorcycles are back and they are beautiful. Almost as beautiful as the Ford in the front of the picture.

Auf der Strecke zwischen Wohnung und Werkstatt ist der Indian Händler übrigens das Highlight.
By the way, on the route between home and workshop, the Indian dealer is the highlight.
