Once to the DIY store and back. Late in the evening after work I want to go to the DIY store to buy a wooden board for the Model-T. It's raining! How nice. Finally I can test the wiper. It works.
I want to mount the battery under the car floor, but I have not yet received an original battery holder for it. Therefore I will temporarily install a new board in front of the rear seats, under which I can mount the battery.
In order to use the car every day for the most everyday things, I still have to optimize a few details. One of them is the tool bag. It's a bit cumbersome to always take it with you. That's why I secured it with a steel rope yesterday. Maybe I will also find a more contemporary solution.
Whether the Hummer cuts a better figure off-road than the Ford may be discussed. The Model-T has clearly decided the question of style for itself.

69. Tag - Sonntagmorgen / Sunday Morning
Today is one of the first days where I only drive the Model-T and don't want to work on it. It has just stopped raining and so I drive to the bakery. The streets are still wet from rain. Completely unexpectedly the tires lose grip on the road and I drive drifting through the traffic circle. Aha, now I know the limit of the tires. But the car drifted through the curve on all 4 tires and remained well controllable. I just hoped that I wouldn't slide against the sidewalk and damage the wheels.
In front of the bakery the customers were already queuing. That's when the Ford was able to show off its advantages to the full. Two customers first took a look at the car before they also queued up. That way I have already won two places. :-)
By the way, pairing the Bluetooth speaker with the iPhon took longer than starting the car. The modern technology seems to be not competitive. But stylish music is already important when driving a Model-T. By the way, on Sunday mornings I prefer the music of the Andors Jazz Band from the Netherlands.
The weather today is a bit changeable. A good opportunity to take a closer look at the Ford manual from 1926. You can always find useful hints in it, which you are not so aware of today's state of the art.
6pm: I drove to Sankt Ingbert in the afternoon. I drove 34km today without having to repair anything on the car. The blog is now slowly evolving from a report about repairs to a field report about the use of a more than 100 year old car in everyday life.

68. Tag - Schmierplan / Greasing Plan
The Model-T has 33 jobs to be taken care of according to the lubrication plan. 25 of them are oiled, 9 are supplied with grease. I find it remarkable that according to the plan, you have to supply the engine with oil every day and change the engine oil every 800km. The transmission oil is changed every 1600km.
The 4 wheel bearings, the steering wheel gear, the steering below and the gearbox output and cardan are greased every 800km. For greasing there are grease cups. The cups are screwed down and filled with grease. When screwing on, the grease presses itself into the bearings. Here three pictures of the rear wheel bearing.
The grease cup of the steering:
The fan bearing should be greased every 300km.
Most often, every 300km, the leaf spring joints, the steering knuckles and the joints of the steering must be oiled. The oil bushings are either simple flaps or screwed-on oilers with rotating sealing sleeves.
The oilers were all filled with grease and had to be cleaned first. Hopefully the bearings were not damaged by this.
The parking brake linkage and the starter crank only need to be oiled every 800km and 1600km. They have no oil bushings.
The planetary gear of the steering only needs to be greased every 8000km:
I drove 20,4km today. A piece on the highway with 74,9km/h. The car runs well. The parking brake is much easier to use after oiling.

Today I made the first oil change. 796km after engine overhaul. According to the Ford service manual, it would have been due after 500km. Well, there was only the rally with 180km and a few days to do it. The engine has a part from the accessories, an oil level sight glass. The maximum of the oil level should be at the height of the upper screw (top right in the picture). During the 796km I added about 1l of oil on the rallye. Then the engine would have consumed about 1l per 400km. At the moment I can't tell if this is a high or normal consumption for the engine. I will clarify that.
Each particle trap has a volume of 4.4 cubic centimeters.
The cap nuts have collected mainly oil sludge. But not only...
There were still 3 chips. Each about 30mm long. Two of them magnetic, one antimagnetic.
