299. Tag - Getriebedeckel Abdichtung / Transmission Door Sealing

Vorgestern habe ich den Getriebedeckel von außen abgedichtet, heute schaue ich mal ob das funktioniert.
Tatsächlich ist das Getriebe trocken. Es kommt kein Öl aus dem Getriebedeckel.
The day before yesterday I sealed the transmission door from the outside, today I'll see if that works.
In fact, the gearbox is dry. There is no oil coming out of the transmission door. 

Wenn die äußere Abdichtung beim Getriebedeckel funktioniert, dann kann es auch an der kritischen Stelle zwischen Getriebegehäuse und Motorblock funktionieren. Hier hängt nämlich immer noch ein Tropfen. Das ist natürlich viel weniger als vorher, aber vielleicht kann man das noch besser abdichten.
If the outer seal on the transmission door works, then it can also work at the critical point between the transmission housing and the engine block. There is still a drop hanging here. Of course, this is much less than before, but perhaps it can be sealed even better.

Und wirklich ist diese Stelle im Moment die einzige, an welcher der Wagen öl verliert. Den Getriebeausgang habe ich ja auch abgedichtet. Eigentlich sollte das ja gar nicht funktionieren. Wenn das Öl erst mal durch das hintere Hauptlager gelangt, muss es ja eigentlich irgendwo hin. Entweder kommt es zwischen dem Spalt am Kardan raus oder müsste durch das Kardanrohr ins Differential laufen. Am Spalt kommt immer noch etwas Öl heraus. Das ist aber wirklich wenig und interessanterweise in einer veränderten Konsistenz. Es ist ganz dickflüssig. So dickflüssig, dass es gar nicht auf die Straße tropft, sondern am Motor hängen bleibt. Das kann ich mir gar nicht erklären.Das Differential werde ich die nächsten Tage mal prüfen.

298. Tag - Polsterreparatur / Upholstery repair

Ich möchte mal schauen, ob die Reparatur des Sitzes funktioniert hat.
Das Loch im Kunstleder ist tatsächlich geschlossen.

Ich behandele es noch etwas mit schwarzer Schuhcreme. Von weitem sieht man den Defekt nicht mehr. Es muss also nicht immer die große Reparatur mit neuem Sitzbezug sein.
I still treat it a little with black shoe polish. From a distance, you can no longer see the defect. So it doesn't always have to be a major repair with a new seat cover.

297. Tag - Getriebedeckel abdichten / Seal Transmission Door

Das wird jetzt einfach mal ein Test. Ist es möglich den Getriebedeckel einfach von außen nachzudichten?
Das ganze wird eine 20 Minuten Reparatur. Zuerst wird die Fußmatte und der Holzboden entfernt.

Auf den nächsten Bildern sieht man deutlich, dass der Getriebedeckel nicht dicht ist. Das Öl läuft seitlich am Getriebe herunter.

Nachdem der Halter des Stoppschalter entfernt ist, schneide ich die überstehende Papierdichtung und die Dichtmasse weg.
After the stop switch bracket is removed, I cut away the protruding paper gasket and sealant.

Nachdem ich das Öl um den Deckel mit Nitroverdünner entfernt habe, dichte ich den Deckel von außen mit Sikabond ab. Das ist das gleiche Dichtmittel, mit dem ich schon die Ölwanne von außen abgedichtet habe. Der Getriebedeckel ist jetzt ein sehr guter Test, weil man hier sehr gut sieht ob die Abdichtung funktioniert.
After removing the oil around the lid with nitro thinner, I seal the lid from the outside with the product Sikabond. This is the same sealant I used to seal the outside of the oil pan. The gearbox cover is now a very good test, because you can see very well whether the seal works.

Der Deckel ist jetzt abgedichtet. Ich kann jetzt die nächsten Tage nachsehen ob eine solche Abdichtung von außen funktionieren kann.

296. Tag - Alltagsfahrt / Everyday ride

Das Model T im Alltag zu fahren ist spannend. Es gibt aber auch eine zweite Seite der Münze.
Ein Auto im Alltag zu fahren bedeutet auch immer die gleichen Strecken zu fahren. Jeden Tag. Das ging mir diese Woche zum ersten mal auf die Nerven. Irgendwie ist mir das früher in den modernen Autos nicht aufgefallen.

Ich denke das liegt daran, dass man im modernen Auto gar nicht wirklich Auto fahrt. Ich meine, nicht so bewußt wie man das mit dem Model T macht. Man sitzt im modernen Auto, hört Radio oder telefoniert (natürlich mit Head Set). Man fährt aber nicht bewußt Auto. Das Fahren ist nur so etwas wie eine Nebenbeschäftigung. Was bedeutet überhaupt "Freude am Fahren" (Werbeslogans eines Autoherstellers) bei den aktuellen Autos? Wird es in Zukunft überhaupt noch Autofahren geben oder wird es nur noch Mitfahren im autonomen Auto sein?

Beim Model T Fahren hingegen, lebt man richtig. Ich meine man nimmt alles sehr bewußt war, besonders die Umgebung. Das ist der Grund warum mir die Alltagsstrecken jetzt ein wenig auf die Nerven gehen.

Eines der Bilder ist auf der Alltagsstrecke aufgenommen, die mich langweilt. Das andere Bild habe ich heute auf einer neuen Strecke aufgenommen, die mich begeisterte. Die Bilder sind so ähnlich, es ist aber ein großer Unterschied dazwischen.
Driving the Model T in everyday life is exciting. But there is also a second side to the coin.

Driving a car in everyday life also means driving the same routes all the time. Every day. That got on my nerves for the first time this week. Somehow I didn't notice that in modern cars before.

I think it's because you don't really drive at all in the modern car. I mean, not as consciously as you do with the Model T. You sit in the modern car, listen to the radio or talk on the phone (with a head set, of course). But you don't drive the car consciously. Driving is just something like a sideline. What does "driving pleasure" (a car manufacturer's advertising slogan) even mean in the current cars? Will there be any driving at all in the future, or will it just be riding along in an autonomous car?

With Model T driving, on the other hand, you really live. I mean you are very aware of everything, especially your surroundings. That's the reason why the everyday routes are getting on my nerves a bit now.

One of the pictures is taken on the everyday route, which bores me. The other picture I took today on a new route that excited me. The pictures are so similar, but there is a big difference between them.

Für alle, denen dieser Blog zu philosophisch war. Ich bin seit gestern 118,2km gefahren und habe 19l Benzin verbraucht. Das sind 16l/100km. Wenn man dem Benzin nicht die Zeit gibt im Tank zu verdunsten, passt auch der Verbrauch.

295. Tag - Dichtstoff / Sealant

 

Wenn man kurz warten muss, kann man auch mal schnell einen Model T Service machen.

Auch wenn kaum noch Öl vom Motor runter tropft, kann ich ja mal nachschauen ob der Getriebedeckel jetzt dicht ist.

Der teure Dichtstoff in der Mogelpackung von UHU taugt nichts. Zuerst war der Deckel dicht und jetzt läuft überall wieder das Öl heraus.
Jetzt brauche ich mal den Rat eines Profis. Ich fahre zu meiner Lieblingswerkstatt "Automobile Pastore" in Kirkel und frage mal, welchen Dichtstoff die so nutzen.

Sie empfehlen mir einen hochtemperaturfesten Silikondichtstoff PETEC, den ich auch gleich kaufen kann. Der funktioniert auch ohne Papierdichtung. Das probiere ich dann mal aus.

294. Tag - Dachreparatur / Top Repair

Stell dir vor es regnet Mistgabeln, die Welt geht unter und dein Dach hat ein Loch. Das Wasser wird literweise reinlaufen. Hier ist das Loch:

Da hilft nur ein Besuch beim Profi.

Das Loch wird von innen über das Loch geklebt. Damit kann das Dach nicht mehr weiter einreißen.

Sobald die Regenzeit vorbei ist, versuche ich noch das Loch von außen etwas auszubessern.

Nach der Reparatur ist kein Regenwasser mehr in den Wagen gelangt. Das Wasser, welches davor bis fast ans Lenkrad reichte, ist wohl durch die Bodenbretter abgeflossen. 😁

Wenn wir schon mal beim Reparieren sind, können wir auch gerade den Riss im Polster zukleben.

Hierzu wird ein Spezialkleber aus der Schuhindustrie verwendet. Er kommt von der Pirmasenser Firma Kömmerling und hat den lustigen Namen Kövulfix. Bei Kömmerling habe ich als Student eine Studienarbeit zum Thema Glas mit Silikon kleben gemacht. Kömmerling hat sehr gute Produkte.
While we are at the repair, we can also just glue the tear in the pad.

A special adhesive from the shoe industry is used for this. It comes from the Pirmasens-based company Kömmerling and has the funny name Kövulfix. When I was a student at Kömmerling, I did a study project on bonding glass with silicone. Kömmerling has very good products.

Nach den Reparaturen ist noch Zeit ein interessantes Kundenfahrzeug anzuschauen. Ein hervorragend restaurierter Scania.
