10:30 The rally begins.
11:45 On a long mountain stretch, the drive locks after 20km of driving. The same issue as yesterday.
Here is a video of the moment of damage.
We will first check the starter crank and the transmission. The crank can only be moved a few centimeters. The transmission has run damn hot and is steaming. All three bands are free. Obviously, the clutch no longer opens.
A few minutes later the A-Team, I mean the Ford Model-A Team, comes and stops to help. A motorcycle policeman also happens to come by. He is a super nice and relaxed man and helps us close off the spot. We discuss what the next step is. It would be great to be able to turn the car, let it roll down the hill and get the clutch free again like yesterday. But we can't estimate if we can turn the car on the hill with the clutch closed. Therefore we decide to try the whole thing backwards. With two men we push the car down the hill while the others stop the traffic. Unfortunately it doesn't work and according to our plan we will get the trailer. We wait for the service team of the organizer and I now have all the time to write the blog for you. After 348 days with the Model T, you start to look at things with a lot of composure.
Shortly after, 3 St. John motorcyclists arrive and also offer help.
By the way, here you can see the two grooves in the brake drum that I talked about yesterday.
The organizers have picked up Markus, my co-driver, so that he can come back with the trailer. So I have enough time to enjoy the idyllic but busy mountain road in the Eifel.
14:00 Markus is back with the trailer. We load the Model T onto the trailer and drive back to Nideggen.
